It was physically challenging, to bring two kids [aged 3 and 2 years] on a day trip to Desaru, as it meant waking up before dawn break and then returning home slightly before 12midnight.
It also meant that the kids would miss their regular nap hours, and could only catch cat-naps while we travelled from one location to another. It resulted in cranky tired kids, and short-tempered parents.
Thankfully our friends were there to help in little ways now and then. Joanne Jieh-Jieh constantly had her hands full with Princess, and ended up with aching arms as Princess napped on her.
Auntie Peiyun travelled with a 7 year old and an 8 year old, and she was so much more relaxed.
The hot weather drowned most of our enthusiasm, it was tiring visiting fruits and vegetables farms with the sun high up in the sky.
For the kids, the sun was no stopper, they enjoyed just being out and about, and they certainly enjoyed the animals’ corner at the fruits farm.
The highlight was the river cruise ride to watch fireflies. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take any photographs. That was a rare experience, and breath-taking it certainly was. Do catch it before it is gone.
Would we go back again? Yes, in cooler weather.
