Spare the rod and spoil the child?

December had been a relatively bad month for the two little ones.

Now with Little Prince getting more vocal in his needs and wants, and not following Princess’ instructions, understandably, there are often times of conflict and jealously.

Princess is not used to Prince doing things his own way, and thus, try to force instead of persuade him. Prince on the other hand, sometimes does things on purpose to irritate Princess.

And with school taking a break, facing each other 24/7, they are sometimes literally at each others’ throats. [Prince is also taking a short break from going to Grandma Siew Khim’s place as she just had an eye operation to remove cataracts.]

But when they got punished or scolded, they would then come to the other’s defense. Prince would say things like, “Chelsea is my sister, not mummy’s sister. Do not scold her lah.

And this goes on and on.

And out of desperation, Mummy Eliz, for the first time, brought a cane. And the cane is starting to be used for instances where there is obvious evidence of intentional disobedience, not in the case of ignorance.

Physical punishment is not something that is enjoyed, and if we spare the cane, are we then going to possibly spoil the child?
