Weekend getaway @ Swissotel the Stanford

Last weekend, we stay at Swissotel the Stamford, and had buffet lunch at Bill & Billard Room at Raffles Hotel.

Another enjoyable slow weekend with lots of time spent in the bathtub.

Outing to Jurong Bird Park

Mummy Eliz took Princess Chelsea on an outing to the Jurong Bird Park on the 15th of January.

Special thanks to Auntie So Mei for arranging free entry for us.

It was a long way from our home to the Bird Park, we set off at 11am, but only managed to reach at around 1230pm.

We caught the Bird ‘n’ Buddies show at 330pm instead of the Children’s Parrot show which would be at 1130am. And it certainly was a great decision. Chelsea enjoyed every second of it. With so many species of birds participating in it, the show was certainly attention grabbing.

The bonus is, Mummy Eliz was chosen to be the volunteer for a segment of the show. She had birds perched on her out-stretched hands, and Princess Chelsea was so excited by it all.

The Little Prince Musical

We caught a musical, The Little Prince last Saturday afternoon.

Thank you, Auntie Yam Yee for helping us to arrange for the tickets to the musical.

The Little Prince is a story that is well-liked all around the world, and Mummy Eliz was glad that to attend a musical about it. Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia also has an entry about The Little Prince. Read all about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Prince

“Ostensibly a children's book, it makes several profound and idealistic points about life and human nature. Throughout the book the children's view on the world, on the main points of the human life and relations between people, which is represented by the Little Prince and partially by the narrator, is set off against the "grown-ups" revealed in memories of the narrator and in the characters, met by the Little Prince on asteroids. But the author underlines, that the "'grown-ups' are like that. One must not hold it against them. Children should always show great forbearance toward grown-up people.”

Before the start of the musical, there was some chanting for world-peace. It was a little daunting, and yet at the same time, unexplainably, calming.

The message the musical tried to convey is a little too deep for Princess Chelsea, but she enjoyed the songs, dances, and stage props.

An extract
-----------

The Little Prince: Why do you drink?

Characters: To get drunk.

The Little Prince: Why do you want to get drunk?

Characters: Because we want to forget.

The Little Prince: What do you want to forget?

Characters: That we are ashamed.

The Little Prince: What are you ashamed of?

Characters: Ashamed of drinking.

And the cycle continues, unfortunately. Food for thought, isn't? This though-provoking part gathered lots of laughter from the audience.

No Mooo Milk ?!?! - I am not a baby cow

"I am not a baby cow!"

That would be Chelsea's response whenever she is offered milk, especially if explained that it is cow's milk.

My guess would be that as she is an exclusively breast-fed baby from birth till now, the idea of drinking cow’s milk would be totally foreign and unacceptable to her.

Especially when books at the local library shows calf drinking mummy cow’s milk, and piglets drinking mummy pig’s milk.

At the moment, Chelsea and Christian are being tandem-nursed together.

Sometimes, Mummy Eliz would feel like giving up, as tandem-nursing is a tiring job, and makes Mummy Eliz feel drained, tried and at times, frustrated, as it leaves little time for her to do anything else.

But reading this, a Newsletter from GUG, passed from Auntie Fiona, Mummy Eliz feels even more motivated to continue on what is most natural, and meant to be.

Everyone knows Breast is Best, and now, there is evidence that even for bigger kids, even if they have weaned off the breast, Cow is Bad !

Lactose-intolerant Mummy Eliz is so happy to read this article No Mooo Milk that she wants to share with all.

PS: Chelsea would still love her cheese, Ben & Jerry's Ice-Cream, thus we would not be shunning these. Moderation is Key!

No Mooo Milk ?!?!

Milk, cheese, yogurt, ice-cream, butter… do milk and diary products really do our body good?

If you are interested in reading more about it, do leave a comment, and Mummy Eliz can email the file to you. Not posting it here as it takes up a lot of reading space.

Outing to Go-Go Bambini

My hyper Princess Chelsea, who alternates between states of Active, Super Active, Hyper Active, and Resting, had a turbo-charged day out at Go-Go Bambini with her usual informal playgroup friends.

The only time she stops for a break is when Mummy Eliz declared that she needs to recharge her energy level with much-needed food. *^_^*

Chelsea is pretty confident maneuvering around the area, but somehow, just likes the idea of having Mummy Eliz tailing after her. Hopefully when she turns 3 come June 2008, she can be totally on her own, and Mummy can chill out in the café area over a nice hot cup of coffee.

Special thanks for Auntie Fiona for planning this outing.

Outing to the Zoo with Playgroup Frenz

On the 11th of January, we had an outing at the Singapore Zoological Gardens.

Tiong’s sister, Anne passed us passes that we used to exchange for complimentary entrance tickets. Thank you Anne!

It was a hot and tiring trip for everyone, especially the adults as we had to carry the kids when they were tired. Mummy Eliz almost melted under the sun.

Outing to Pasir Ris Park

The only thing constant in this world is "Change".

Chelsea was trying to relate this understanding to Mummy Eliz using her mixture of English and Chinese just the other day.

This realization came to her as for this new term of playgroup, some of her usual classmates shifted to the Nursery class, and thus, she had new friends. Some of her classmates remained.

Thus, Chelsea really appreciates her usual informal playgroup friends very much. She looks forward to the weekly Friday gathering.

Today, we had an outing at Pasir Ris Park. The kids enjoyed themselves with sand-play, and pony riding.

Thank you once again, Auntie Fiona for organizing this and driving us there. =)

Weekend getaway @ Fairmount Singapore

We had a really relaxing weekend.

Daddy Tiong had a discounted voucher for a night’s stay at Fairmount Singapore (the Hotel above Raffles City Shopping mall), along with complimentary high tea at Equinox, thus on Saturday night, our whole family spent the night on a king sized bed, with full view of the Raffles Hotel from one window, and view of Suntec City, the Singapore Eye, Marina Square etc from the other window.

High tea at Equinox was truly satisfying. The great view pleased both Chelsea and Christian. Christian entertained himself by biting on his seat buckle, whereas Chelsea had fun pouring juice from one cup to the other.

PS:

The thing we enjoyed most is surely the huge bathtub that could take in everybody.

Great family bonding time!

Birth of this Blogger Site

Kids grow up fast.

Before one realizes it, Christian is no longer a sleeping baby, and Chelsea now has a mind of her own.

And understanding that memories fade with the passing of time, this blogger site is created to preserve memories and thoughts of their growing up process.

To share with all who care.

Before the official birth of this site, Mummy Eliz had a huge headache on what name to give this blog.

Well of course, in the end, the name Chelsea-n-Christian was being selected, as it most accurately reflects what this blog will do.

What if, just what if, we have one more addition to the family? Should we then create a new blogging site? =)

Hmmm, we would not need an immediate answer to the earlier question. So let's wait and see.

PS:

Thank you Auntie Fiona for inspiring the birth of this blogger site.
